Kojima’s OD: Xbox’s Deep Gameplay Support Revealed

Kojima Productions is currently working on OFa new horror game developed in partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios. The ambition is to offer an unprecedented terrifying experience.

During a recent interview with Famitsu, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, discussed the involvement of the Redmond teams in this project. Microsoft is not limited to technical support, but collaborates closely with Hideo Kojima on the development of the gameplay itself.

The actors’ strike slowed down work

“When I talked to Kojima about this new game, he shared some really bold ideas. He even said, ‘I want to make a truly terrifying game,'” Spencer revealed to Famitsu. “Members of Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios collaborate closely on gameplay and technology, and I was delighted with the quality presented in our tenth anniversary event trailer.”

During the interview, Spencer was also asked about a possible launch window for OD. The head of Xbox indicated that a release date had not yet been set, due to disruptions caused by the 2023 cast and writers strike, which inevitably slowed development progress.

“Indeed, no specific date has been decided. Due to the actors’ union strike, it has been difficult to establish a schedule for filming, which has led to delays in the development of the game. We continue to work intensively, but a specific date has not yet been determined.”
