Kryštof Hádek: Love Life & Future – Exclusive Interview

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

Investigator Adam Beneš, whom you portrayed, is pragmatic, but at the same time has trouble taming his emotions. How did you find the balance between his professionalism and inner tension?

I don’t do it by finding specific elements to put the character together. So I wasn’t directly looking for a way to portray Adam, but I tried to understand him comprehensively. I respect scripts very much, but at the same time I work intuitively.

I like to act in detective stories. I’m always pleased when it’s not just a machine, but has an overlap or interesting story lines of police characters.

Did you read the book draft by Kristýna Trpková before or during the filming?

He didn’t read. I didn’t want to be influenced by the pattern. After all, the best movie runs in one’s head while reading a book. Readers are then usually disappointed when they see the adaptation on the screen. I think it is necessary to separate the book from the film, they are diametrically different media. I am still going to read Kristýna’s book, I plan to find time for it, perhaps during Christmas.

Were you able to guess who the killer is while reading the script?

No. I’ve already seen the movie and I think that people like me who haven’t read the book won’t immediately recognize the killer either. And that’s great.

Are you a crime genre reader?

I’m not a genre-specific reader. I just have to enjoy the book.

You met Kristýna Ryška for the first time on the set. Did you sit down?

You’re right that we haven’t played together yet, but I’ve been following Kristýna’s work for a long time and I’m a fan of hers. I was therefore very happy about the work meeting, it was great.

In addition to movies, we see you a lot on the screens in crime dramas, now in the series Oktopus or Mladá krev. You used to embody mostly sigras. Would you say that you have matured into a police officer?

Yes. Nobody’s getting any younger, I’ve played someone’s sons in the past and now I’m playing a father as well. In addition, acting is usually associated with a certain typology. The role of a lover or a prince probably does not await me in the future. But it would be interesting to make a fairy tale from the environment of seniors, for example. About a kingdom where everyone is old.

In March of next year, the movie A Dance with the Bear, in which you were cast, will premiere. Who are you playing?

I play the partner of a woman who is starting a family with her. But all medical examinations indicate that they will probably have a child with Down syndrome.

By learning about the diagnosis at the outset, they are faced with the question of whether or not to continue with the pregnancy. It was a very nice job with the director Jitka Rudolfová.

Your character solves a morally serious question. Do you know how you would make a decision in your private life?

I can’t imagine that situation. Of course I dealt with her during the filming process, but I still can’t really answer that because I haven’t experienced it. I have three healthy children myself.
