Festive Good Fortune: €87,242 Lotto Win in Limerick

In a stroke of Christmas luck, a Limerick Lotto player is counting down the holiday season with a £87,242 windfall. The winner matched five numbers plus the bonus in the recent Lotto draw, and will have plenty of festive shopping days to enjoy the victory.

The winning ticket was purchased on Thursday, December 19, at Dunnes Stores in Harvey’s Quay, Limerick city. The lucky number matched in the main Lotto draw were 1, 14, 16, 20, 33, 41, with 22 as the bonus number.

While joyous celebrations filled Limerick, the biggest festive good fortune was reserved for a Dublin player who became a lottery millionaire just before Christmas when a winning ticket was selected in a once-off special draw. Every holder of the winning raffle number was awarded £500, but one exceptional player claimed an additional £1 million prize, in addition to their usual £500.

Despite the Dublin player’s windfall, there were still more than 86,000 other prize winners in this bumper Lotto and Lotto Plus draw. Unfortunately, the £4.7 million jackpot remained unclaimed and will roll over to an estimated £5 million for the draw on Christmas Day.

The National Lottery advises all prize winners over the festive season to sign the back of their tickets and keep them safe. Winners should contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie, and arrangements can be made for them to claim their prize early next year.

Nearly 30 percent of every £1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to good causes, including sports, youth programs, health support, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. To date, more than £6.5 billion has been raised for these causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago.

Just last year, in 2023 alone, the National Lottery raised £227.9 million for various community and cultural initiatives.
