June 1944. Denis Porte, heir to a long line of heroes who died for France, is hidden by his mother, assistant to General de Gaulle, in a false English base. He spends his days safely moving mannequins dressed as soldiers to deceive the enemy about the landing site. He is joined by Sami, an Algerian soldier who dreams of saving France in order to negotiate the independence of his country. He takes Denis across the Channel, but they have neither the right date nor the right location for D-Day…
Claude Zidi Jr follows in the footsteps of his father who, in addition to his famous “Ripoux”, made several comedies about badasses. Kev Adams amuses with the madness he displays in the first part where he seems to have lost his mind by trying to make people believe that his plastic companions are real people. The opening with a nod to Asterix and certain anachronistic jokes make you laugh, as does the ultra-protective behavior of the mother, who is too worried (Cristiana Réali, funny) but the pace is uneven. What remains is the almost childish mischief of Kev Adams and the zany generosity of Didier Bourdon as the escaped Nazi general from the series “Papa Schulz”.
Comedy by Claude Zidi Jr with Kev Adams, Cristiana Réali, Didier Bourdon…
