The “Day of Sports” once again highlighted the diverse sports offerings in Gräfelfing
Take a look at the riding club, do a little dance workshop or relax with yoga – all of this was possible at the third “Day of Sports” in Gräfelfing last Saturday (October 11th, 2025). From 10 a.m. until the afternoon, sports facilities of all stripes opened their doors and warmly welcomed curious people with tailor-made trial formats.
The idea behind the concept is to make the sports offerings in Gräfelfing even better known and more transparent. The equipment could be tested under supervision on the fitness course on Anger, and the community itself also took part with an information stand on how to implement the traffic concept next to the course. All questions about the topic of “mobility” were answered here. A highlight were also brief insights into the construction site of the new swimming and three-field sports hall, which took place at four different times.
Sport and quality of life
“Sport is an important part of community life. And through sport, the quality of life can also be improved in general,” Mayor Peter Köstler is convinced. “With the Day of Sports, the variety of sporting activities here in Gräfelfing will become even more transparent, for all age groups and interests. I would therefore like to thank the organizers for their great work and the sports facilities themselves for once again taking part in such large numbers and thereby making the day possible.”
The Sports Day took place for the third time. “Sports Day wants to give you the opportunity to try out something new and maybe even discover a new favorite sport. It’s often not known how diverse the range of sports on offer in Gräfelfing already is,” adds Steffi Obermayer, Munich-Land District Youth Association and member of the organizing team. This also consists of Sabine Kraus, social area manager for regional youth work in Gräfelfing, and Bernd Ulshöfer, owner of the Musado Gräfelfing martial arts school.
Diverse offer
The offers at the Sports Day ranged from trial lessons at the Würmtal riding club to trial training at the Musado Munich martial arts school and an introduction to the equipment on the Anger fitness course. New this year was the opportunity to gain an insight into the construction site of the new sports and swimming pool, which was actively used.
At an information stand on the Anger near Kirchweg, Malte Hasselkus (integrated mobility concept department for the municipality of Gräfelfing) provided information about traffic projects and the status of the traffic concept. Numerous visitors took this opportunity to discuss personal concerns regarding transport.
“The offer was really used intensively,” says Malte Hasselkus. “Mobility is a topic that interests people and that of course affects everyone. Making yourself available at an information stand for discussions directly on site is a concept that has proven itself. It’s about quality of stay, infrastructure and future measures. Everyone has their own opinion, which can be expressed in this context and which is very valuable to me.”
The current status of all measures in the traffic concept can be followed at any time on the “Gräfelfing is moving” website. “I would also be happy to be contacted directly by email or telephone,” says Malte Hasselkus (Tel.: 089 / 85821700 / m.hasselkus@graefelfing.bayern.de).
The idea for Sports Day came from the Round Table Sport initiative in Gräfelfing. The round table is a working group made up of volunteers for the development of new sporting offerings – across all sports, for all generations and social groups.
