Academy Award-winning American actress Diane Keaton has died at the age of 79.
Diane captured hearts with her performance as Woody Allen’s eccentric girlfriend in the romantic comedy “Annie Hall” in 1977. Rizzoli, a publishing company that issued a number of Diane’s books, confirmed her death in a statement, describing her as “an icon whose influence extended to cinema, fashion and design.”
The late woman, who appeared in more than 60 films – including the “The Godfather” trilogy, “The First Wives Club” and eight films with Woody Allen, in Hollywood – was distinguished by her personal style, which was characterized by feminine looks, turtleneck sweaters and her distinctive hats.
She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the American journalist, Louise Bryant, in the political drama “Reds” in 1981, and as a caring aunt to Leonardo DiCaprio in the family film “Marvin’s Room” in 1996, but it was the movie “Annie Hall” that was credited with her emergence as an experienced actress.
