The world’s most populous region is home to rising middle classes with an increasing interest in global sport. However, in recent years rights-holders have at times struggled to sell media rights in APAC. Broadcasters, meanwhile, face chronic piracy problems, along with declining pay-TV subscriptions in many markets. What strategies should rights-holders and broadcasters adopt when seeking to serve viewers and grow in the region?

The panel will be moderated by Imran Yusuf, Executive Editor of SportBusiness, and will feature three leading sports business executives who are based in the APAC region: Marissa Banu-Lawrence, Head of Content Acquisitions, Commercial Sport, Fox Sports Australia; Mark Chew, Co-Founder & Managing Director, Reddentes Sports; and Kevin Sim, Head of Asia Pacific, Bundesliga International.

Ahead of the panel, Mark Chew said: “The Asia-Pacific region presents both exciting opportunities and unique challenges when it comes to content acquisition. With its diverse markets and rapidly evolving consumer habits, there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy.

“I think The monoco provides an ideal platform to bring together rights-holders, broadcasters and industry leaders to exchange perspectives on how best to serve fans and unlock growth in APAC. I’m also looking forward to sharing my insights alongside my fellow panelists and diving into this important conversation.”
