The Argentine actor and singer Fede Dorcaz died on Thursday in Mexico City after being the target of what the local police described as a possible “direct attack” in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office, west of the capital, the Secretariat of Citizen Security reported in a statement.
Dorcaz was shot several times while driving on the Peripheral Ring, an avenue that surrounds Mexico City, the Secretariat said.
He added that the authorities are reviewing the video surveillance cameras to identify those responsible for the crime and that, according to the first investigations, they were people traveling on two motorcycles.
The Secretariat also said that it reported the facts to the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City to carry out joint investigations.
The Prosecutor’s Office reported this Saturday in a statement that it opened an investigation for homicide.
“Agents of the Investigative Police (PDI) and personnel of the General Coordination of Forensic Investigation and Expert Services of the institution carry out the corresponding procedures to clarify the facts and identify the person or persons responsible,” he said.
CNN contacted the Argentine Embassy in Mexico to request more information about the case and is awaiting a response.
Dorcaz had planned to participate in the reality show Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy, the program said this Friday in a message on its X account, in which it also expressed its condolences for the death.
“Fede leaves a great void in our team. His memory and passion will always continue to inspire us. Rest in peace Fede Dorcaz,” said the official account of the program, which is broadcast on the Televisa network.
In its broadcast this Friday, Hoy also dedicated a segment to talking about the event. In it, he presented some images of Dorcaz’s rehearsals with his girlfriend, the artist Mariana Ávila, with whom he would dance in the reality show.
Ávila also spoke about what happened. On his X account, he said: “You will always be my favorite person in the whole world, I love you I love you I love you and I will always love you.”
The case occurs less than a month after the disappearance and subsequent homicide of Colombian musicians Bayron Sánchez Salazar, known as B King, and Jorge Luis Herrera Lemos, known as Regio Clown, whose bodies were located in the municipality of Cocotitlán, in the central State of Mexico.
