Las Vegas, Nevada – Utah State women’s tennis continued its fall season at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier over the weekend, highlighted by a singles victory from sophomore Teresia mlkva.
In singles, Mlkva fell in a close opening match to San Diego State’s Ninon Martinache, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Natalie Paterova also dropped her first-round match to Grand Canyon’s Karina Hofbauer, 6-1, 6-3.
Mlkva bounced back in consolation play, earning Utah State’s lone win of the weekend with a three-set victory over Air Force’s Chaeyule Kang, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0. Paterova later faced Colorado State’s Sorcha Caves, falling 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles action, Mlkva and Paterova teamed up in the first round but came up short against the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, San Diego State’s duo of Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley, 8-6.
