Max Verstappen brought an impressive victory on Saturday on his trip to the Nürburgring long-distance series. The Formula 1 star prevailed against the competition in a Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Swiss team Emil Frey Racing.
Superior leadership expanded
After the start of position three, the Dutch took the lead after just a few meters. In his 600 hp ferrari, he continuously expanded the lead. When he handed the car to his British teammate Chris Lulham after two hours, his lead was over a minute. The 22-year-old Lulham, who made his debut, finally brought the car to the finish.
From the driver’s license to victory
Remarkable: Only two weeks ago Verstappen had completed the necessary driver’s license test for the Nordschleife. In his first long-distance race, he had to compete in a throttled GT4 car with additional weights and took seventh place (we reported).
The almost 28-year-old is now also planning a participation in the 24-hour race in the coming year. “To win here for the first time – great,” said Verstappen after his success. However, he left open whether the start of the 24-hour race.
