The Diputación de Cuenca and the Rugby Club to Palos strengthen collaboration ties to continue betting on projects that are already being carried out and being able to extend them to the entire province to publicize this sport among the youngest thanks to ‘The Route of the Jabato’ with which they want to reach the maximum possible locations.
This has been able to transfer the deputy of Sports, Abel Fresneda, to the new directive of the club, headed by its president, Marco Sarria, during a meeting with the Councilor for Sports of Cuenca, Charo Rodríguez, and the head of Sports Service of the JCCM in Cuenca, Luis Javier Chamón. The meeting served as the first contact and where the provincial institution showed its willingness to continue collaborating together.
Fresneda highlighted the success of ‘The Route of Jabato’ in towns such as Saelices, tragacete or screaming where taking advantage of cultural or holiday events, athletes have organized a day to publicize a sport that the deputy has highlighted “the nobility” and the attraction it has for the youngest.
The deputy reiterated support for this sports modality materialized in the call open to sports clubs with which they receive a contribution of 4,000 euros and promised to continue supporting them so that they can continue to grow.
In this sense, it coincided with the objectives of the club to work to position Cuenca as “the regional rugby spearhead placing Castilla-La Mancha on the map of the Spanish Federation.” With this objective, the first Castellano-Manchega Cup of rugby will be organized that will be played in Cuenca on September 27 and for which all the teams in the region will be invited.
“It is about adding efforts to publicize this sport that you can offer so much to the youth of the province and from the Diputación we will always collaborate with the clubs in the work that they develop with the base categories because we know that all the effort that is made with the young people will return it to us by far in the form of sports successes and healthy habits,” said Fresneda.
