Ke wenzhe to Wear Electronic Monitor After Bail Granted in Jinghua City Case

Former Taipei Mayor Ke Wenzhe, facing charges related to the Jinghua City case, was granted bail of NT$70 million. The North Court dispatched a vehicle to transport Ke Wenzhe from the detention center to the court,where he will be fitted with an electronic monitoring device. Arriving at approximately 12:20 PM, Ke Wenzhe appeared relaxed, without handcuffs, and dressed in a sweatshirt and casual footwear.

The Taipei District Court had previously ordered the detention of Ke Wenzhe in January concerning the Jinghua City case. Recently, Ke Wenzhe requested the suspension of his detention, leading the North Court to grant him bail on September 5th, setting the amount at NT$70 million.As part of the bail conditions, Ke Wenzhe is restricted from leaving the country or traveling overseas and must remain at his registered residence.

The court panel also stipulated that Ke Wenzhe is prohibited from contacting, harassing, intimidating, or questioning any defendants or witnesses involved in the case. He is also required to wear an electronic monitoring device on his left ankle and carry a designated mobile phone for tracking purposes.

Initially, Ke Wenzhe did not instantly apply for bail following the North Court’s ruling, with his defense lawyer stating that he needed time to “think again.” Later, his legal team consulted with him and clarified the source of the bail funds. Attorney Lu then announced that Ke Wenzhe had authorized Chen Peiqi to manage the bail procedures.

Following the completion of bail procedures by Chen Peiqi, the North Court promptly dispatched a vehicle to transport Ke Wenzhe from the Taipei Detention Center back to the North Court. He is expected to depart from the North Court after these procedures are finalized.
