(Sixth power) – Modena – 26 August 2025 – take place, on the nights between 26 and 29 August, a series of disinfestation interventions provided following a suspected case of Chikungunya in Modena.
The 2025 Arbovirosis surveillance plan prepared by the Region provides for in these cases the performance of adulticides, larvicides and elimination of larval outbreaks for a ray of 100 meters from the place where the cases of contagion have occurred.
The plan establishes, in particular, three interventions in succession: the disinfestation with adulticides for the maximum possible reduction of the population of mosquitoes for three consecutive nights; the repetition of the larvicides in public tombing from the morning of 27 August; The removal of the outbreaks in private areas, with door -to -door interventions that will be carried out on the morning of Thursday 28 August.
The area of the intervention is located near Viale Jacopo Barozzi.

The ordinance signed by the Mayor therefore provides that access to the open areas of the buildings to carry out the treatments, that the larval outbreaks present in private courtyard areas and indicates, among the precautionary measures, the closure of the windows during the night hours, is granted to the disinfestation workers. Windows and doors well closed in the night, therefore, and suspension of the functioning of the air exchange systems.
In addition, pets must be kept indoors and they must be protected with plastic sheets their outdoor hospitalizations and furnishings, such as bowls and sites. The fruit and vegetables of the gardens must also be protected in a hermetic way. To consume sprinkled fruit and vegetables with insecticides it will be necessary to wait 15 days, they must be washed abundantly and the fruit must be peeled. Furniture and games for children left outside and exposed to the treatment must be cleaned using washable gloves or losing.
In case of accidental contact with the insecticide product, wash the part of the body affected with soap and water abundantly.
During Porta a Porta a Porta on the morning of Thursday 28 August, those in charge will not enter the house, they will only have to be able to access the external areas and will be identifiable for high visibility bibs and recognition card.
In the event that laboratory investigations give negative outcome, the disinfestation treatments will be suspended.
