No new railway line thru the heath – about 100 representatives from politics and citizens’ initiatives in Bispingen on sunday. The planned railway line between Hamburg and Hanover is a bone of contention.
New construction, expansion or both? The decades of dispute over the Hanover-Hamburg railway line is coming to a head. The train is for a new line. In a meeting in the Lüneburger Heide,opponents now asked for Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU) to stop the railway plans promptly. Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD), in whose constituency the meeting took place, strengthens their backs. “I am for an expansion of rail traffic,” he said. “Make -up compromises that have been laboriously developed for years” would be questioned by the train.

“Infrastructure has to be developed against each other,” said the Lower Saxony Transport Minister Tonne in Bispingen.
Criticism also came from Lower saxony’s Minister of transport Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD): Becuase of the expected cuts in nature, a space inequality test is needed.”But the railway wants to make a decision in the Bundestag beforehand,” he criticized. Local residents fear that the new route cuts untouched nature, isolated towns between rails and the A7 and lead to the expropriation of farmers.
