In cooperation with Hannover Marketing & Tourismus GmbH, the municipal cinema presents cult films from the 70s, 80s and 90s on an LED screen-under the motto ‘Bring your own Chair’. Whether picnic blanket or folding stool: The audience is invited to bring your own seating. The opera square is thus transformed into a living stage for film fans and all those who want to enjoy the summer flair of downtown Hanover. The open-air cinema is the highlight of the summer in the cultural triangle and offers a varied program full of culture, art and encounters for over ten days-everything with free admission.
“Attoso” – stage for Hanover’s free scene
Table of Contents
Under the title “Vor -Team”, the United Kulturhannover has put together a varied supporting program that focuses on the diversity and creativity of Hannoverian artists for an hour. With exciting performances, music, dance and more, “opening credits” make artists and collectives from various divisions and districts one hour ahead of the open-air cinema. All passers -by and visitors are invited to discover the creative energy of Hanover.
Opening festival of the new articles of association
The opening festival of the new directorate of the State Opera, Schauspiel Hannover and State Ballet on August 31 is accompanied by a legendary Hoffest in the Kulturhof, the courtyard between the artist’s house and the Schauspielhaus. The event offers a day full of exciting insights into rehearsals, scene sections, tours, hands -on activities and musical performances. At 6 p.m., short films, curated by the municipal cinema, present a variety of highlights, followed by an opening concert in the opera house, which introduces the musical highlights of the upcoming premieres and reversal and transferred live to the opera field.
The series of trade dances!
But that’s not all: Free dance companies from Hanover conquer the city center! The foyer of the Motel One Opera Hannover and the ground floor of the Galeria Hannover (entrance Bahnhofsstraße) become special dance locations, while literary enthusiasts can experience young literature at Paper & Tea and Kreipes Coffee Time.
The cultural triangle – a place of connection
The “summer in the cultural triangle” should offer more than just an event: This format supports the cultural urban development project, which aims to bring art and culture more into public space. Between the Schauspielhaus, Künstlerhaus and Opernhaus, the foyers of the cultural institutions are expanded to places, streets and courtyards. The aim is to promote cooperation and joint event formats between cultural institutions, the free scene, the private sector and civil society.
The event builds on the successful Culture triangle festival weeks 2024 on that took place as part of the “Resilient inner cities” funding program. The ten -day “summer in the cultural triangle” combines the cultural houses with the free scene and the economy and creates a better visibility of art and culture in the city center of Hanover, while at the same time integrating the offers in the area with the summer stage at the music kiosk.
Everyone is invited when new encounters and experiences in Hanover’s inner city area enables culture: on the opera field, in the cultural courtyard, in the cultural institutions, on the summer stage at the music kiosk, in shops and in the hotel foyer – with film, dance, talk, literature and many surprises.

The smartphone – a digital universe, always at hand in your pocket. It reflects reality, is always present and yet decoupled from human feeling. The dancers of “here ≠ there” move through a area of tension between distance and closeness, lightness and severity. Their movements reflect the wave -like rhythms of the world: sometimes their bodies widen as if they are reaching for the distance, sometimes they contract as if every single one brings the burden of the whole world.
