Ben Folds Releases Live Album Amidst Kennedy Center Concerns

Musician Ben Folds has released Ben Folds Live with the National Symphony Orchestra, a new live album recorded at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
The performance,which occurred prior to what Folds viewed as undue political influence at the center,features a collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra led by Steven Reineke. Guests include Regina Spektor and Tall Heights, with vocal support from doug Peck, nicholas Kassoy, and Marc Silvey.
Ben Folds Live with the national Symphony Orchestra includes both classic tracks and new material. The album is available on streaming services, as well as in physical formats such as signed CDs and vinyl.TalkShopLive will host Folds on July 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET for a discussion about the album. The recordings took place on Oct. 25 and 26, 2024. Folds afterward resigned from his position as Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO). According to reports, Folds’ departure was triggered by concerns over political interference, which he felt compromised the integrity of the institution. Other artists,including lin Manuel Miranda and members of the The miserables cast, have also voiced concerns about the Kennedy Center.
