Maria Berrelleza has been appointed as a reporter for Telemundo Chicago (WSNS). She will be covering breaking news and producing feature stories for teh station’s late morning, afternoon, and evening newscasts.

Berrelleza previously worked as a general assignment reporter for Univision chicago (WGBO) starting in 2022.

According to Sally Ramirez, senior vice president of News, NBC 5 Chicago / Telemundo Chicago, “María brings a wealth of reporting experiencing to our team, along with a determined commitment in keeping Chicago’s Latino community informed and heard. We look forward to adding María to our acclaimed Noticiero Telemundo Chicago talent roster this summer.”

While at Univision Chicago,Berrelleza also produced and hosted the “Yo Quiero” segment,which focused on community-based stories.

Before her time at Univision Chicago, Berrelleza held journalism positions at Telemundo stations in Sacramento, California (KSCO), and Fresno (KNSO) from 2019 to 2022. She also worked at Univision stations in Philadelphia (WUVP) and Atlanta, Ga. (WUVG) between 2017 and 2019.

Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, Berrelleza was raised in Arizona and graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass dialog.
