Women’s Hockey World Cup “Santiago 2025” Groups defined

The draw for the Women’s Hockey World Cup “Santiago 2025” has taken place, setting the stage for the tournament to be held in Santiago, Chile, from December 1 to 13.

The groups for the Women’s World cup “Santiago 2025” have been drawn. This marks the second consecutive edition hosted by Santiago, Chile, following the 2023 tournament. The competition, scheduled from December 1 to 13, will occur at the Claudia Schüler training and competition center within the National Stadium Park. This year will be the first with 24 participating teams, an increase from the 16 in previous years.

The tournament will feature six groups,each comprising four teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the next round.The Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, England, Australia, and the United States were seeded based on the FIH world ranking. The groups are as follows:

  • Group A: Netherlands, Japan, Chile (local) and Malaysia.
  • group B: Argentina, Belgium, Zimbabue and Wales.
  • Grup C: Germany, India, Ireland and Namibia.
  • Group D: England, South Africa, China and Austria.
  • Group E: Australia, Spain, Canada and scotland.
  • Grupo F: United States, South Korea, New Zealand and Uruguay.

The Netherlands aims to defend its title, won in Santiago 2023 against Argentina.After a 2-2 draw in regular time, the Netherlands secured the championship with a 4-1 victory in the shoot-out. “Las Leoncitas” will be looking to reach another final and claim their third title in history, following victories in Terrasa 1993 and Santiago 2016.
