Developer and publisher Funcom has released Dune: Awakening, a survival MMO set in the dune universe, on Steam. Players can now explore the risky world of Arrakis, complete with sandstorms, political intrigue, and sandworms.

Initial Success and Player reception

early access for Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners began on June 5th. During this period, Dune: Awakening reached a peak of 117,087 simultaneous players on Steam. With the game now available to all, this number is expected to rise.

The game has received positive feedback, with 89 % positive user reviews on Steam.

Gameplay and Features

Dune: Awakening blends survival game mechanics with an MMO structure. players must survive on Arrakis while developing political and strategic influence, choosing to align with either the Atreides or the Harkonnen.

Season pass and Future Content

Console Release

The game is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation in 2026.
