NATO to Participate in Finnish Navy Unmanned Systems Exercise

The Navy has announced that it will host NATO’s unmanned systems this June. The exercises are scheduled to occur in the western sea area from porkkalanniemi to Hanko. Exercise areas will be monitored at sea.

Navy operations Manager, Commodore MARKO LAAKSONEN, stated in the bulletin, “- Unmanned systems have enormous potential and versatile uses. For example,intelligent and autonomous systems can be used to monitor areas and objects,releasing valuable resources elsewhere.”

The operations in the shallow and archipelago conditions of the Finnish coast are intended to aid in the progress of systems suitable for the Baltic Sea conditions.
