LITTLE ROCK – As the search for escaped convict Grant Hardin entered its second week, Arkansas authorities released A photographic depiction of a convict and former police chief known as the “demon in the Ozarks” on Tuesday.

The updated image was made public as state legislators voiced concerns regarding Hardin’s escape and announced plans too scrutinize the circumstances surrounding it.

According to the Arkansas corrections department, the representation of Grant Hardin, 56, it shows how it could be seen after it escaped on May 25 of Calico Rock prison. the image depicts Hardin with some hair on his head and face.

Officials have stated that Hardin absconded while wearing an outfit designed to resemble a police uniform.

Rand Champion,a department spokesman,indicated that the search is primarily focused on the central-northern region of Arkansas,were the prison is situated. While tips regarding potential sightings of Hardin have come in from other locations, none have been fruitful thus far, according to Champion.

Hardin, a former police chief in the small town of Gateway, near the border between Arkansas and Missouri, was serving long sentences for murder and violation. It was the theme of the television documentary “Devil in the Ozarks”.

“Its manipulation of the system when using a costume that resembles a uniform is disturbing and speaks of a broader failure of the system.”

Hardin was being held in a maximum-security section of the medium-security prison, officially known as the North Central Unit. Authorities are investigating whether Hardin’s kitchen job played a role in his escape, specifically if it provided him access to materials that could have been used to create his makeshift uniform.

Legislative Review

The co-chairs of a legislative subcommittee overseeing the prison system have informed the head of the State Corrections Board of their intention to review any “deficiency or deviation” in security protocols that allowed Hardin to escape.

Area legislators have asked why Hardin was detained at Calico Rock facilities.

The letter was sent on Monday by Republican representative Howard Beaty and Senator Matt McKee to Benny Magness, who heads the State Board.
