litoměřice Celebrates 50th Anniversary of “mas Boys” Filming
LITOMĚŘICE – The city of Litoměřice is preparing a weekend-long party to mark the 50th anniversary of the filming of the beloved Czech film,”Mas Boys” (Páni kluci). From June 20th to 22nd, residents and visitors can immerse themselves in the history and nostalgia of the film, which substantially impacted the city.
While other locations where also used, Litoměřice holds special importance for the film. The event aims to reconnect locals with the film’s legacy, building on previous anniversary commemorations.
The film’s director,Věra plívová-Šimková,who passed away last October at the age of 90,was a frequent visitor to Litoměřice. She often explained why the city was chosen for the 1975 film, stating,”Litoměřice was chosen by the architect, but we could not shoot on the Great Square, because we would block traffic and even its environment into the film, which was based on Tom Sawyer’s adventure book.”
Plívová-Šimková fondly recalled the filming experience: “The film was doing vrey well, we enjoyed a lot of fun and manny excellent actors met. Other shots took place at osek Castle and at Levín, where we bathed, and even organized swimming races,” she recalled.

City Seeks Witnesses and Memories
Organizers are calling on residents to share their memories and materials from the filming. “Did you belong in the year of filming? Do you remember the shooting crew and actors in the streets of our city? Do you have photographs, film shots or other engaging materials from filming?”
“Simultaneously occurring, we are looking for witnesses who would be interested in participating in the discussion with the actors and filmmakers, remember the shooting time and share their experiences with others,” organizers said.
