Former President Donald Trump has accused China of breaching a trade agreement with the United States, reigniting concerns about trade relations between the two global powers. The accusation comes amid ongoing economic tensions between Washington and Beijing.

In a recent social media post, Trump stated that China experienced internal instability due to his tariffs, which led to a “fast deal” aimed at stabilizing the situation.

“Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual,” Trump wrote.”Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!! The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!”

The agreement, a 90-day agreement finalized earlier this month, involved notable tariff reductions. Trump’s administration reduced tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 30%, while Beijing lowered its tariffs from 125% to 10%.

As of now, Trump has not provided specific details regarding the alleged violation.

Trade Talks at an Impasse

“The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!”

On Thursday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that trade discussions between the U.S. and China have reached an impasse, suggesting that direct intervention from Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping might potentially be necessary to move forward. bessent told reporters that the talks where “a bit stalled”.

The legality of the Trump administration’s tariffs is currently under legal review.
