Efforts are underway to fix a new North Korean warship that sustained damage during a failed launch last week, according to state media reports.
The 5,000-tonne vessel tilted and took on water during the launch,with Kim Jong un reportedly observing the incident.
“The work for completely restoring the balance of the warship is being actively conducted… according to its schedule,” KCNA stated on Monday.
the destroyer’s launch occurred on Wednesday at the northeastern port of Chongjin. However,the vessel experienced a loss of balance,resulting in damage.
The North Korean leader described the failed launch as a “criminal act” and stated that the incident “brought the dignity and self-respect of our state to a collapse,” vowing to hold those responsible accountable.
An examination has been launched, and authorities have arrested the chief engineer of the shipyard, the head of the hull construction workshop, and the deputy manager for administrative affairs.

Investigation and Initial Findings
An internal inspection revealed no holes in the bottom of the warship. Though, the starboard hull had scratches, and seawater entered the stern section thru the rescue channel.
The extent of the damage was reportedly “not serious.”
