Dr. John “JD” Dorian is heading back to Sacred Heart Hospital. After extensive negotiations, the return of Zach Braff has been confirmed, paving the way for a “Scrubs” revival. The new series aims to recapture the magic of the original while introducing new storylines and characters.

“Scrubs” Revival: Braff’s Journey Back to Sacred Heart

Securing Braff’s return was a complex process,involving discussions about filming locations and compensation. His preference for filming in Los Angeles, rather than the initially planned Vancouver, caused delays. Despite these challenges, Braff hinted in the summer of 2024, “I think it will happen,” a prediction that has now come to fruition.

Braff’s commitment is expected to encourage other original cast members to return. Negotiations are reportedly underway with Donald Faison (Turk), Sarah Chalke (Elliot), John C.McGinley (Dr. Cox), and Judy Reyes (carla). While Reyes currently stars in another series, her return to “Scrubs” is not out of the question, as suggested by her appearances with former castmates as early as August 2024.

Series creator Bill Lawrence will also be involved, albeit in a different capacity. Due to his commitments to other shows like “Ted Lasso” and “Shrinking,” Lawrence will serve as an executive producer. He reportedly reached a special agreement to collaborate with Disney and ABC on the revival.
