Two French Men’s Doubles Teams advance to Quarterfinals, Medal Hopes High
French Contingent Eyes Podium Finish in Men’s Doubles
The Table Tennis World Championships in Doha are proving to be a fertile ground for French talent, wiht two men’s doubles teams from Montpellier advancing to the quarterfinals. Alexis and Félix Lebrun, along with Esteban Dorr and Florian Bourrassaud, are now just one victory away from securing a medal at this prestigious event [[3]].

The Lebrun brothers, currently ranked No. 4 in the world,are aiming to etch their names into French table tennis history,following in the footsteps of Jean-Philippe Gatien and Damien Eloi,who claimed bronze in Manchester 28 years ago. Though, standing in their path to the semi-finals are the formidable Swedish duo of Mattias Falck and Kristian Karlsson. Coach Nathanaël Molin acknowledges the challenge, stating:
It’s something… they were world champions, Europe champions… They have won everything in fact!

Molin anticipates a big fight
against the Swedes,especially after their recent 3-1 victory over Anton Kallberg and Truls Moregard [[1]].
Overcoming Early Hurdles
Their victory against Kallberg and Moregard wasn’t without its challenges. The Lebrun brothers conceded the first set after squandering two set points. Félix Lebrun commented on their initial struggles:
I told myself that if we won the first set, it could have unfolded, but we put ourselves in a difficult match for not much. But the vital thing was to continue playing our game.

Despite the setback, they rallied to win the next three sets (10-12, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5), demonstrating their resilience and adaptability.
Alexis Lebrun Battles Nerves After injury
Adding to the pressure, Alexis Lebrun was also contending with the stress of returning to competition after a hand injury sustained in March. He admitted:
It was my first game on top players since the injury. I was keen to do well and I was very tense. there were somewhat stupid faults, precipitation, especially in the first set.

As the match progressed, Alexis grew more pleasant, finding his rhythm and contributing considerably to their qualification.
Dorr and Bourrassaud Ride Momentum
Joining the Lebrun brothers in the quarterfinals are Esteban dorr and Florian Bourrassaud. The French national doubles vice-champions secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Hong Kong’s Chan Baldwin and Wong Chun Ting (11-6, 11-8, 11-7), fueling their aspirations for a deep run in the tournament [[2]].

Dorr and Bourrassaud’s next challenge will be against the formidable European duo of Ovidiu ionescu (Romania) and Alvaro Robles (Spain), who previously eliminated the No. 4 seeds, Tomokazu Harimoto and Sora Matsushima of Japan. Bourrassaud emphasized the importance of maintaining a focused approach:
