Special Trains to Revive Tradition at Bad Wurzach’s Holy Blut Festival

A Climate-Friendly Pilgrimage: Special Train Service Announced

After a hiatus, special train services are set to resume for the annual Holy Blut Festival in Bad Wurzach, scheduled for July 11th.This initiative, supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the bodo Verkehrsverbund, aims to provide a sustainable and communal travel option for pilgrims attending the religious event.

Route and Schedule: Connecting Communities to the Festival

The special train will commence its journey in Wangen, with subsequent stops in Kißlegg, Wolfegg, and Alttann, before arriving at Bad Wurzach at approximately 6:30 a.m. This allows pilgrims ample time to reach the town center, a short walk from the station, before the procession begins at 7:00 a.m.

Two return journeys are planned: one immediately following the procession and another after the sermon, catering to different departure preferences. Detailed timetables will be released shortly on www.bodo.de and other media channels.

Affordable and Accessible: Ticketing Information

Travel on these special trains is accessible through standard public transport tickets, including the Deutschland-Ticket and Bodo day tickets. These tickets, available for individuals or groups of up to five people, can be purchased at ticket machines in Wangen, Kißlegg, Wolfegg, and Alttann, and also via the Bodo app. this ensures that the pilgrimage remains affordable for all participants.

Promoting Sustainable Travel: A Modern Approach to Tradition

The reintroduction of special train services aligns with growing global efforts to promote sustainable travel. According to recent data from the European Habitat Agency, rail transport accounts for onyl 0.4% of total EU greenhouse gas emissions from transport, significantly lower than road transport. By choosing the train, pilgrims can reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more environmentally friendly party.

The state of Baden-Württemberg and the Bodo Verkehrsverbund wont to offer a climate-friendly and relaxed possibility to make a pilgrimage together and in a sociable mood for the faith festival.

Stay tuned for further updates and detailed schedules as they become available.
