The band also minimizes reliance on playback, ensuring an authentic live experience.

I do not need any extra effects. It is really important for me to control the volume, a compressor and a few basic boxes of Distortion or Tremolo.

Of course we use large -scale screens, but we put emphasis on music. I think it does not need a superstructure. Sure, I’m talking about my boss, but I’m really deeply convinced that Sting is a music great of our time.

However, Miller suggests that audiences can anticipate a refreshed experience compared to previous tours. He especially praises the contribution of drummer Chris Maas,formerly of Mumford and sons,whose energetic and rock-infused style injects a new dynamic into the performance. While the tour features the new song “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” from the “Sting 3.0 Live” concert record, it largely avoids material from the last two decades, including Sting’s 2021 album, “The Bridge.” Miller explains that the focus is on celebrating Sting’s entire career, presenting a “Best Of” selection that evolves over time. The band has experimented with around 55 songs, carefully curating a setlist that resonates most effectively with audiences. This approach reflects a shift in the music industry, where legacy acts frequently enough prioritize showcasing their most beloved hits over promoting newer material.

Today, however, rather promote Sting’s career, so we play Best of. It does not have a fixed shape. We have tried about 55 songs and gradually chose those that will come best.

Adding to the festival’s eclectic mix are Jamaican reggae artist shaggy (who has previously collaborated with Sting), Grammy-nominated American duo Sofi Tukker, British option rockers snow Patrol, Finneas (known for his co-writing work with sister billie Eilish), and Israeli singer Noga Erez. With such a diverse roster, Colors of Ostrava is poised to be a highlight of the summer music calendar.

Miller’s musical journey is as diverse as his repertoire. His early years in Argentina, immersed in the sounds of Tango and Bossa Nova, laid the foundation for his eclectic style. Later,he honed his skills at the london Guildhall School of music,eventually finding his footing as a studio musician in the vibrant London music scene of the 1980s. His breakthrough came with his performance on Phil collins’ 1989 album But seriously,which led to his collaboration with sting.

“It happened to me with the songs Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens and I experience the same with the Beatles.And all of this inspires me to write my own music.”
