These actions undermine international agreements established after World War II, such as the principle of not altering borders by force.
This resurgence has created a climate of fear and uncertainty, prompting many European nations to bolster thier defense capabilities. The virus of war is spreading across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, fueled by these imperialistic ambitions.
At the heart of this resurgence lies a dangerous ideology: social Darwinism. This theory, frequently enough intertwined with eugenics, promotes the idea that superior groups are justified in dominating or even eliminating inferior ones. This concept has historically fueled discrimination, oppression, and violence.
Examples abound throughout history. From the colonial era, where nations like the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Spain justified their imperial ambitions through a sense of racial or cultural superiority, to Japan’s rationalization of its colonization of Korea, and the horrors of the Nazi regime’s persecution of Jews, the consequences of this ideology are devastating.
Today,we see echoes of this hate virus in various forms. In Germany, there are concerning attempts to rehabilitate the Nazi past, while far-right parties gain traction. In the United States, anti-immigrant rhetoric and the demonization of political opponents are becoming increasingly normalized. These trends highlight the urgent need to confront and combat the spread of hate and division.
A disturbing trend in both the United States and Korea is a growing disregard for the rule of law. In the United States, challenges to the authority of international bodies like the World Trade Association (WTO) and the undermining of free trade agreements are becoming increasingly common.
Similarly, in Korea, instances of mob rule and disregard for court decisions are on the rise. This erosion of legal norms threatens the very foundation of democratic societies, where the law is meant to be a neutral arbiter and protector of individual rights.

The ultimate victims of these resurgent ideologies and the erosion of the rule of law are the ordinary citizens who believe in the power of reason, justice, and common sense.
