Dr. Guttmann’s Professional Background
Dr. Guttmann practices sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedic care with SVMC Orthopedics, part of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) and Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) in Bennington. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in biology from Florida State University, an associate’s degree in science from Miami-Dade Community College, a medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Centro America in Costa Rica, and residency training in pediatrics at San Juan City Hospital in Puerto Rico.
She further honed her skills with a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Albany Medical Center in New York. Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in Sports Medicine, Dr. Guttmann brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice.
A Passionate Sports Background
Beyond her professional career, Dr. Guttmann is a former professional athlete. She played quarterback in the Independent Women’s Football League’s Orlando Starz and captain for the Orlando Mayhem from 2001 to 2002. Her athletic pursuits are not limited to football. At the amateur level, she has dedicated herself to adventure races, basketball, mountain and road cycling, snowboarding, tennis, and volleyball. Her athletic experiences have equipped her with a unique perspective on the demands of sports and injuries.

Dr. Guttmann has provided medical coverage for significant events, including the New York Giants training camp in Albany, NY, college-level sports teams, and numerous adventure races. Her extensive experience in medical coverage makes her a valuable asset in high-pressure sports environments.
Olympic Ambitions
Dr. Guttmann’s ultimate goal is to serve as a physician at the Olympic Games. As a step toward this aspiration, she has been selected to lead medical services at the 2023 FISU World University Games in Lake Placid, NY, from January 7 to 21. This international event will feature over 2,500 athletes and delegates from 600 universities and 50+ nations competing in 12 sports across 86 medal events.
Following her responsibilities at Lake Placid, she will participate in a training program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from January 22 to February 4. After completing this rigorous training, she may be chosen to serve as a team physician during an Olympic Games.
