26-year-old Lazrak-Hlass did not provide doping control with precise details of her whereabouts, although she was required to indicate a specific time and place where she would be available for testing for at least one hour.
According to anti-doping rules, an athlete can be punished if he is unavailable for testing three times in a 12-month period. Lazrak-Hlass violated these requirements.
Lazrak-Hlass’s provisional suspension will remain in effect until a final decision is made in her case. It can be tough: for example, American sprinter Fred Curley received a two-year disqualification also for being unavailable to doping officers.
Lazrak-Hlass is the current European vice-champion in heptathlon. She won silver at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, setting a personal best of 6,635 points.
A month ago, she became the French champion in the pentathlon, improving her personal best to 4634 points.
This year the European Athletics Championships will be held in Birmingham. It is still unknown whether Lazrak-Hlass will participate in it.
