Presenter, economist and former BBB member Gil do Vigor, 34, and Leonela Borges, 29, participant in MasterChef Amadores 2025, got into a controversy last Monday (16) via social media. This is because the cook criticized Gil after he took a stance on one of the current participants of Big Brother Brasil. Leonela used her profile on network X to make her comments, which were seen by the presenter as homophobia, he highlighted when commenting on the case, hours later, also on the networks. She returned to the networks and said that she apologized to Gil.

The former MasterChef shared a post that stated that Gil was afraid of losing the position of “biggest popcorn” on BBB to Milena, a member of this edition of BBB. “Now that I understand why he’s frothing against Milena. It’s the fact that people now consider her the biggest ‘popcorn’ in history,” the post said.
The presenter had criticized the reality participant, who wants to put herself on the wall, even asking the participants in the house to do so, when possible.

With Leonela’s post going viral, Gil returned to the networks to counter the attack. He wrote in a story published on Monday: “It’s difficult to see so much prejudice disguised as mockery. Being gay is not an asset, it’s my being. Homophobia hurts, a lot.” He continued: “I ask you, Leonela, that when you criticize me, please don’t touch on the fact that I’m an effeminate gay man and no, that’s not why I’m on television, it’s not because I’m gay but because I study, have social projects and try to encourage people to study and look for something better. Thank you!”
After the repercussion, Leonela spoke about the issue again on her profile on X. In a message, in response to a follower, she stated that she apologized to Gil do Vigor about her previous message.
One user’s post said: “He’s right to be offended, since she called him a bad communicator, but he thought she used gay as an insult, and she didn’t.”
Leonela wrote in response: “Exactly that. I even explained to him that this was the intention and apologized for having touched on a point that I imagine to be very painful in relation to this specific point. For me, it’s resolved, it will make for a few days of mess here, but life goes on”.
