Pallacanestro Trieste Defeats Tenerife | European Victory

by Archynetys Sports Desk

Prestigious victory, but above all heartfelt victory, for Pallacanestro Trieste in the last European match of the season against a Tenerife team already confident of first place in the group (the second went to Nymburk who conquered Gran Canaria). This time too there is an injured player forced to the bench, it is Toscano-Anderson with a visible belt/bandage on his back which prevents him from setting foot on the parquet. Trieste plays once again in a largely restructured formation, essentially eight men given the debut of the Australian Bannan who showed some excellent things, moves well, plays for the team and has a polite hand. Few people in the stands, among them we saw Alessandro Frosini, sporting director of Reyer Venezia who will be on stage at the PalaTrieste on Sunday.

The first points of the match are two free throws from Sissoko. Then there is Deangeli‘s triple: 7-3. Tenerife breaks: 7-11. Ruzzier from beyond the arc: 10-11. Iannuzzi also made a three and then Deangeli with a 2+1: 18-19. The bomb comes from Abromaitis, son of Jim seen in the shadow of San Giusto in the 1981/1982 championship. Mills, making his debut with the guest jersey and a great former NBA player especially with the S. Antonio Spurs, closes the quarter from three: 20-27.

Trieste defends well in the second quarter, conceding only ten points to the Spanish. There are the Trieste points for Uthoff and Ramsey and the first two for the new arrival Josh Bannan. In the final, the red and whites come back from 29-37 to 37-37, the result with which we reach the halfway point of the match.

Sissoko opens the third quarter: 39-37. Tenerife immediately scores an 11-0 score: 39-46. Uthoff breaks the ice for Trieste: 41-48. Mills from three: 47-56. The Spaniards kept ahead and closed the section with a seven-point lead.

In the last quarter Ramsey takes center stage and scores 19 in the 9’46” of the pitch, leading his team to a comeback and victory. From 59-64 to 74-68 at -2’04”. Trick and return from three with Van Beck, Ramsey and Doornekamp in order: 77-74 at -1’19”. A free throw by Ramsey scored: 78-74. Abromaitis reply: 78-76 at -45″. Ramsey again on the line, this time he makes it 2/2: 80-76 at -30″. A few seconds later, a sensational mistake from underneath by Van Beck and the following foul on Ramsey at -22″ who thus ends the match with two free throws on target.
