The health administration is calling for applications for the position of director general.

History of the case

A significant number of Budapest psychiatrists have announced that they will terminate their voluntary overtime work from the spring of 2026, which, according to the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK), could endanger the functioning of psychiatric emergency care in the capital.

According to the opinion of the chamber, because of this

the current form of psychiatric on-call care in Budapest becomes unsustainable.

It became clear from the opinions of the specialist doctors sent to the chamber: if the existing problems cannot be settled satisfactorily, the about two-thirds of psychiatrists working on call are ready to quit.

The direct antecedent of the protest is that it became public: since Robin Ézsi was appointed as director general, 15 psychiatrists have left OPAI. Due to the drastic reduction in the number of specialists, the National Hospital General Directorate (OKFŐ) was forced to transfer doctors from other institutions to the institute.
