TNI Alert 1: Public Anxiety Rises – Latest Updates

JAKARTA – Member of Commission I DPR RI TB Hasanuddin questioned the steps taken by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto who issued the Alert 1 telegram in responding to the Middle East escalation. According to him, the telegram must be confidential, not revealed to the public.

Hasanuddin said there was no problem if the TNI published the telegram. Moreover, the telegram was considered to increase awareness due to the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

“The telegram, yes, is fine, there are no problems. For what reason? What is called alert is as a means and infrastructure to increase the readiness of soldiers, both personnel and material. Yes, whether for training or readiness to carry out operations,” said Hasanuddin, to journalists, Monday (9/3/2026).

However, the legislator from the PDIP faction questioned the publication of the telegram which was revealed to the public. He said there were two conditions for the telegram to be published.
