On Sunday, March 8, the Daugavpils Ice Hall hosted the women’s hockey tournament dedicated to Women’s Day, in which three teams – Cats, Polar Fox and Pingvīni – took part. The event gathered both players and fans, creating a special sports atmosphere in the spirit of International Women’s Day.
The tournament was played on a round-robin basis, with teams playing each other in one round of matches. In the first match, Cats beat Polar Fox with a score of 5:3. In the second game, Polar Fox defeated the Penguins 3-0, while in the final game of the tournament, the Penguins defeated the Cats 3-2 in a fierce battle.
After adding up the points, the team Kaķenes won the 1st place in the overall standings of the tournament, the Polar Fox took the 2nd place, and the Penguins took the 3rd place.
The competition took place in a friendly and at the same time adventurous atmosphere. The players demonstrated fighting spirit and team spirit on the field, but the support of the spectators reigned in the stands. The festive atmosphere of the tournament was complemented by flowers and congratulations to the participants on International Women’s Day.
The organizers thank all the teams for participating in the tournament, as well as the fans for their loud and sincere support in the stands. It is this common sporting atmosphere that helps to build and strengthen the traditions of women’s hockey, uniting players, spectators and hockey enthusiasts in one festive event.
