After experiencing resounding success over the past year, the popular Papa Sandwich banner is extending its activities outside the greater Quebec region for the first time with a new franchise in Chicoutimi.

“We have been in discussions for a few months and we got along really well with the new franchisee so it was a great opportunity for us to expand our activities,” rejoices co-owner Nathan Todd.
The new address should open its doors in July 2026 on Talbot Boulevard. This is a fifth restaurant and a second franchise for the chain, which has seen a meteoric rise since opening its first branch in the summer of 2025.
“We are always listening and when the fit is good, we are always happy to move forward. But we’re really not in a hurry either because we want to make sure we do things well and maintain a certain standard,” he explained.
Home run after home run
While it was initially just a small test project, with a simple sandwich counter on Cartier Avenue, he is today happy to see that the popularity of the chain, greatly propelled by social networks, is not just a simple trend.
“There were questions about whether it was a flash in the pan, but we hit another home run by opening at the Pyramide de Sainte-Foy. We make about 600 sandwiches a day, every day, so it’s completely mind-blowing. »
“We saw the same thing in Saint-Augustin, but from the first week, it was the same thing. We are in the third week and the figures are still higher than we imagined,” he continued.
He also says he expects history to repeat itself in Chicoutimi as the announcement of the opening of the new restaurant has generated more engagement than any other publication since the launch of the chain.
“It gives a taste of how it will be received there, but above all it’s really fun to see that the little project we had in mind continues on its momentum and that the enthusiasm is still as great. »
Let the beginning
Despite the two openings planned soon, he wanted to warn fans of the sandwich shop to stay alert as other locations could be announced sooner rather than later.
“As it stands, we should end the year 2026 with six to eight branches across Quebec and maybe even more,” he concluded.
