AI Job Loss 2030: 80% of Jobs Replaced?

Vinod Khosla, one of the most successful investors and entrepreneurs in technology, who bet early on companies such as OpenAI, Square or DoorDash, claims that artificial intelligence will radically transform the economy in the coming decades.

Specifically, by 2030, up to 80% of jobs could be done by AI, which would lead to the disappearance of a large part of human work, but also to an era of abundance, where goods and services will become much cheaper and more accessible, according to Fortune.

“Starting in 2030 — four years from now — 80 percent of all jobs will be able to be filled by artificial intelligence,” Khosla said.

“What will happen when all labor is free? $15 trillion of US GDP is labor, and that $15 trillion will largely disappear. This is a highly deflationary economy.

But the abundance of goods and services [datorită inteligenței artificiale și roboticii] it will be very, very big. Prices will be very, very low. I suspect that by 2040, $30,000 – or maybe even $10,000 – will buy a lot more than you can buy if you have an income of $100,000 today.”

For his part, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said last year at the US-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum in Washington that in the next 10-20 years, work will be optional and money will become irrelevant thanks to AI and robotics. He often compared the decision to have a job to tending a vegetable garden out of passion.

In his vision, robots will outnumber the human population and provide essential services such as healthcare, while money and retirement savings will lose relevance.

On the other hand, the future of the workforce looks uncertain, some experts warn. If some voices claim that artificial intelligence brings new jobs, others see a complete overhaul of work as we know it.
