We are on a construction site in the heart of a futuristic French “smart district”: a landscape of glass and steel that promises progress, but which behind the scenes hides grueling night shifts, insufficient safety protocols and increasingly precarious lives. When a worker disappears, Vincent (Damien Bonnard) and his colleagues start asking questions. And when it happens again, suspicion becomes fear.
The point, however, is not just the mystery: Grand Ciel focuses on a system in which human life risks ending after profit. And while the screen recounts disappearances, the news reports very harsh numbers: in 2025 in Italy the total work-related deaths were 1,093, that is, more than three per day.
Added to these are the gray areas of irregular work: “invisible” people, without protection, who exist only as long as they are needed.
Grand Ciel is a social film that tries to illuminate what we often prefer not to see.
From March 5th at the cinema! đŦ
