The Kastelruther Spatzen frontman has had a difficult year: in 2025, the 65-year-old initially suffered a minor stroke. A bilateral inguinal hernia followed shortly afterwards. A few days ago Rier was back on stage. In an interview with Bild he talked about his current condition. For him, music is “the best medicine”. Thanks to the rehab, he “recovered from the operation quite quickly, so the doctors gave me the green light to perform again,” he also explained.
According to his own statement, the singer is now doing well again. During rehab, he “started conditioning training and building up his strength,” he reported. And: “I have lost 22 kilos and feel fit.” Nevertheless, he wants to take care of his health. So he will “not overdo it with the performances and avoid stress. My wife will look after me.”
