Jakarta. Former vice president and retired army general Try Sutrisno has died at the age of 90, according to confirmation from the Vice Presidential Secretariat.
He passed away at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) in Jakarta at 06:58 a.m. local time on Monday, the secretariat’s press bureau said.
Following the announcement, the late statesman’s body was taken to his private residence on Jalan Purwakarta, Menteng, Central Jakarta, where family members and close associates are expected to pay their respects before the burial.
He leaves behind his wife, Tuti Setiawati, and their seven children, four sons and three daughters.
A retired Indonesian Army general, Try served as Indonesia’s sixth vice president from 1993 to 1998 during the administration of President Suharto.
Throughout his military career, he held several senior positions, including Army Chief of Staff from 1986 to 1988 and Commander of the Armed Forces from 1988 to 1993, before transitioning to the vice presidency.
