The numerous samples will be analyzed with a mysterious unknown DNA trace which had been discovered on a pair of shoes belonging to the child. She was found at the end of March 2024 in a wooded area near the hamlet, a few days after the discovery of little Émile’s skull by a hiker.
The major sampling campaign is planned for the spring, although the DNA of four people from the village has already been taken, according to BFMTV.
The lawyers for the child’s grandparents had requested additional documents. Me Julien Pinelli had notably judged that the collection was “opportune”. However, a judicial source assures BFMTV that “in reality, these DNA samples have been in the pipeline for months”.

Emile, a little boy of two and a half years old, disappeared in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence on Saturday July 8, 2023, around 6 p.m., without leaving a trace, while he was spending the holidays with his grandparents. On March 30, 2024, a hiker found the little boy’s bones, putting an end to the search that had lasted for almost a year. In December, the police were able to detect a lesion of the right zygomatic bone on his skull, that is to say the bone located at the top of the cheekbone. The hypothesis favored by experts would be that of a blow, potentially struck with an object.
