– Orlando snatched a victory on the Lakers floor (110-109) in the latest and most contested match of the night. The money time was breathtaking, with a basket from Desmond Bane at 3 pts for 108-107 34 seconds from time, a dunk from LeBron James to give LA one point back before the last possession and… a game winner from Wendell Carter Jr. The inside of the Magic scored under the basket after a mix-up and with the help of Anthony Black. The Lakers had 6 seconds left to score, but LeBron was only able to take a difficult shot on a pass from Luka.

In this match, Paolo Banchero was excellent with one of his best copies of the season: 36 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists at 12/22. Luka Doncic had difficulty adjusting the sights (8/24) but finished with 22 points, 15 assists and 9 rebounds.

– It was the return of the one everyone was waiting for last night. Michael Jordan? Giannis Antetokounmpo? Batman? No. Moussa Diabaté obviously ! Jokes aside, the French interior of the Hornets made his comeback from suspension after having served his 4 matches last night, during Charlotte’s big victory against the Bulls. If he brought his usual activity and energy in the five (9 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 asts, 3 stls, 3 blks), we especially saw a new festival of 3-point baskets for Charles Lee’s men.

The Hornets, led by Brandon Miller (23 pts) and Kon Knueppel (21 pts and 200 3-point baskets achieved), scored 25 winning baskets during this 8th consecutive away victory. Matas Buzelis’ personal best in the NBA (32 pts) was not enough for Chicago to avoid collapse after halftime, while it was still close between the two teams. The Bulls, who are now 10 defeats in a row, took an extremely violent 42-16 in the 3rd quarter.

– Boston further established its place as runner-up in the East, winning (97-81) in Phoenix against the decimated Suns. The Celtics, who were playing without Jaylen Brown, did very badly in the 3rd quarter (30-11), thanks in particular to the efforts of Derrick White (22 pts), Neemias Queta (14 pts, 13 rebounds), Sam Hauser (16 pts) and Baylor Scheierman (11 pts, 11 rebounds). This is the fourth victory in a row and the 9th in 10 matches for Joe Mazzulla’s players.

– While Boston is taking a little breath in 2nd place in the East, Cleveland and New York faced each other last night. The Cavs benefited from a very good start to the 2nd half, conceding only 11 points (and 3 baskets) against the Knicks in the 3rd quarter. Donovan Mitchell (23 pts), James Harden (20 pts) and Jarrett Allen (19 pts, 10 rebounds) did the job. The two teams are tied for 3rd place with a similar record. Mohamed Diawara played 8 minutes (5 pts) for New York.

– OKC continues to win games without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. The Thunder took a complicated one against Toronto (116-107). It was the evening of Cason Wallace (27 pts, personal NBA record, 8 rebounds, 7 assists at 11/16) and Isaiah Joe (22 pts), who were the reigning champions to overcome a somewhat sluggish first quarter. Although they shot 47% from 3 points (18/38), the Raptors were too fair.

Jonathan Kuminga made a successful debut with Atlanta. The former Warriors player made a strong impression coming off the bench against the Wizards (119-98), with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 24 minutes. This match was an opportunity for Trae Young to already return to his old lands. The All-Star point guard did not play, but was cheered by the audience after a tribute video. Zaccharie Risacher came off the bench again, this time with an interesting overall activity (9 pts, 9 rebounds, 3 asts). On the Washington side, Bilal Coulibaly compiled 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks.

– Milwaukee finished strong against Miami (128-117) to sign a 4th victory in 5 matches. These Bucks on whom there are much less expectations are not unpleasant at all to follow and they have heart. While they were 9 points behind the Heat in the 4th quarter, Doc Rivers’ players turned the situation around. Kevin Porter Jr (32 pts) was excellent, along with Bobby Portis and Ryan Rollins (21 pts) each. Ousmane Dieng also contributed to this success with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 interceptions in 22 minutes, with very remarkable activity and skill since his arrival. Miami had three wins in a row.

Joel Embiid made his return after five matches of absence. The pivot of the Sixers (27 pts, including 20 in the first half) contributed to the victory (135-114) of his team against Indiana (deprived of Siakam) in support of Tyrese Maxey (32 pts, 9 rbds, 8 asts).

– Fifth defeat in a row for the Nets (123-114) against Dallas. Despite the snowstorm in the United States, both teams were able to arrive on time and compete. The Mavs froze the Barclays Center in the first half with 76 points scored before the break. Marvin Bagley (23 pts) and Naji Marshall (22 pts) were the most prominent. Nolan Taore started with Brooklyn and contributed 8 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.

– The Pelicans celebrated the return of Dejounte Murray after more than a year of absence with a victory (113-109) against Golden State. In this close match against the still featherless Warriors, NOLA took advantage of the good copy of Zion Williamson (26 pts, with his first 3 pt basket of the season), but also of a precious basket from Murray (13 pts) at 1:04 from the end to give his team a 5 point lead and glean a 4th victory in 6 matches.

Rudy Gobert made a small harvest (19 rebounds) during the Timberwolves’ victory in Portland (124-121). Anthony Ewards (34 pts) and Jaden McDaniels (29 pts) carried Minnesota against the Blazers who played without Deni Avdija. Sidy Cissoko was content with 16 minutes with 3 points, 2 assists and 2 interceptions.
