Anthropic vs OpenAI: AI Rivalry Heats Up Before Super Bowl

by Archynetys Sports Desk

Anthropic releases Super Bowl commercial attacking OpenAI.

Anthropic invested millions of dollars in commercials during Super Bowl LX and criticized competitor OpenAI for its plan to include advertising in the free version of ChatGPT. This was the first time that Claude, Anthropic’s chatbot, appeared in a Super Bowl advertising campaign – a bold step in the competition among AI companies.

In the commercial, a young man receives advice from a chatbot while training, but is interrupted by shoe advertising. The message ends with the sentence: Advertising is coming to AI. But not to Claude.”

Anthropic would like to highlight the difference from OpenAI. Anthropic wants to emphasize that the conversation experience with Claude will be authentic and free of commercial elements in order to create trust and a pleasant feeling among users.

The commercials will officially air on February 8, with one spot appearing 30 minutes before the movie opens and another during the first half of the 2025 NFL Finals – America’s biggest sporting event.

By agreement, each AI character reflects the voice and preferences of each player. Genies reserves the right to charge fees for conversations, in-app experiences and related digital products. However, the company has not yet announced which players will be included in the first phase.

This is an experimental move that demonstrates MLB’s commitment to combining traditional sports with AI technology to increase fan engagement. If successful, this model could become a new trend in the sports industry, with players having a presence not only on the field but also in the digital space.

Apple integrates an AI chatbot into CarPlay.

Apple is exploring ways to integrate AI chatbot apps like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini into its CarPlay system. According to Bloomberg, the goal is to give users the ability to communicate with chatbots directly from their car screen – alongside well-known apps such as Apple Music, Messenger and Navigation.

CarPlay currently connects the iPhone to the car’s infotainment system and displays apps on the central screen. The new generation of CarPlay Ultra extends the functionality to the digital instrument cluster in front of the driver, enabling control of various vehicle settings. The integration of an AI chatbot could potentially replace Siri – Apple’s voice assistant – in driving.

This move shows that Apple wants to embrace the AI trend in the automotive industry, where tech companies and automakers alike are looking to transform vehicle interiors into a smart space. If this succeeds, CarPlay will become an AI communication platform directly on the steering wheel, opening up new competition between Siri and leading chatbots.
