Kentucky Basketball point guard Jaland Lowe has undergone successful surgery on his right shoulder, head coach Mark Pope revealed during his Thursday press conference.
The surgery occurred on Wednesday, and Lowe could rejoin the team as early as next week. His rehab has a projected six-month timeline, so a return to the court should come sometime in the late summer.
“He had surgery yesterday, and it went smoothly. He will be on the road to recovery. I don’t know if he will be available on Saturday, but hopefully he can be back on Tuesday,” said Pope. “His rehab will be six months unless there’s a miracle. I believe in miracles. We’ll see.”
Lowe dealt with a lingering dislocated shoulder ever since the Wildcats Blue-White Game in October. After a few reoccurrences with the shoulder, Lowe and his family met with Pope and decided to go with the season-ending injury.
Pope mentioned that Lowe will apply for a medical redshirt to regain a season of eligibility. He wrapped up his 2025-2026 season, averaging 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds. He appeared in nine games with the Wildcats.
For now, the plan is for Lowe to be back at UK next season, but we’ll see how things shape out once the transfer portal season is underway.
