A press release, ultimately fake news, was distributed on social networks on January 26, reporting possible “exceptional measures” relating to the continuity of the current school year.
To educate public opinion, the Ministry of National Education and Civic Instruction published, on January 28, 2026, an official press release intended to reassure teachers, students and their parents in the face of such allegations.
The ministry specifies that classes will continue normally for all classes, including those not affected by end-of-year exams. To date, no decision has been taken regarding a possible “early closure” of the 2025-2026 school year.
The ministry adds, for all practical purposes, that a press release will be published as soon as possible to clarify the final decisions resulting from the ongoing consultations. And that discussions with teaching unions and representatives of the “SOS Education” collective continue in a climate “constructive”. The stated objective is to achieve sustainable solutions guaranteeing educational continuity, while preserving the interests of young learners.
Through this official release, the Ministry of National Education and Civic Instruction reaffirms its commitment to preserving the integrity of the national education system. He also assures that he wants to maintain clear, responsible and transparent communication with all stakeholders in the sector, in a context where the serenity of the educational environment remains a national priority.
