Oscar winner Sam Mendes is currently working on four films about the Beatles. Now there are the first pictures of Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan as Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
A pretty daring project was announced in February 2024: Oscar winner Sam Mendes (“American Beauty”) is making four films about the Beatles with a budget of $400 million, which is very high even by Hollywood standards. And not only that: All four films are scheduled to be released in cinemas on the same day, namely April 6, 2028. The project known as “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event” with films about Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr has been filming since mid-2025 and is scheduled to continue filming until mid-2026. But already Now there’s a first look at what the four Beatles will look like in the film.
As part of an unusual marketing campaign, four postcards with the first pictures of… Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson als John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan als Ringo Starr distributed, which initially only circulated on the Internet in poor quality, but have now been officially published by Studio Sony:
Many comments suggest that the four Beatles were mostly pretty well doneespecially McCartney, Lennon and Ringo Starr, while “Stranger Things” star Joseph Quinn is the least convincing as George Harrison. Ultimately, however, it remains to be seen whether the four actors still look so convincing across the different eras of the Beatles’ history and especially in moving images.

In addition to the up-and-coming young stars Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan, numerous other stars can also be seen in “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event”.which is certainly also a reason for the high budget. Among others, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, Harry Lloyd as music producer George Martin and James Norton as Beatles manager Brian Epstein also appear.
