There was great concern around Khvicha Kvaratskhelia‘s injury after his premature exit against Newcastle this Wednesday in the Champions League. Good news for PSG, the Georgian striker should be quickly recovered.
We feared an absence of several weeks. It will ultimately be counted in days. Hardly tackled by Anthony Elanga in the 22nd minute of PSG / Newcastle, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia seemed to be in for a long absence. The Georgian’s ankle was badly affected and the former Neapolitan left the field supported by two members of the Parisian staff. Luis Enrique himself seemed very unconfident about a rapid return from his player: “It’s complicated… But I hope I’m wrong and that we’ll still have good news.”
An ultimately short absence
Fortunately for PSG, Luis Enrique was wrong. In a medical press release published this Thursdaythe club announces that Kvaratskhelia is suffering “from a sprained right ankle” and he will be absent “8 to 10 days”.
“Kvara” will therefore be forfeited for the trip to Strasbourg this weekend in Ligue 1, but could be reinstated for the reception of OM on February 8. His participation in the Champions League play-offs, which begin on February 17, therefore seems to be in no doubt, barring a complication.
