U.S. President Trump’s tariff threat is expanding across all fronts again.

Tariffs were imposed on countries doing oil trade with Cuba, and tariff threats were also brought out against Canada, with which there is a trade conflict.

This is reporter Kim Seon-joong’s report.

Thousands of citizens march with torches in the Cuban capital Havana.

This event, attended by the Cuban president, was designed to solidify resolve in a situation where U.S. sanctions continue.

[데그니스 로살레스 / 하바나 주민 : 그들은 우리를 조금도 두렵게 하지 못합니다. 쿠바는 세계와 아메리카 대륙의 인민들을 지켜낼 것입니다.]

However, the United States is tightening its grip on the Cuban regime.

President Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs on countries doing oil trade with Cuba, saying Cuba is a threat to U.S. national security.

In fact, it appears that they were aiming for a regime change by further putting pressure on the Cuban economy, which was on the verge of collapse.

[도널드 트럼프 / 미국 대통령 : 쿠바는 곧 망할 겁니다. 정말로 망할 위기에 처했죠. 베네수엘라에서 돈과 석유를 이제 더 이상 받지 못하게 됐어요.]

President Trump again brought out the tariff card against Canada, which is causing a trade conflict.

He threatened to impose a 50% tariff on Canadian aircraft, claiming that Canada was blocking the import of American aircraft.

Previously, President Trump warned that he would impose ‘100% tariffs’ when Canada attempted to improve relations with China, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney publicly protested, saying, “There is nothing normal in the United States right now.”

Many interpret that Trump, who is in crisis due to the violent Minnesota immigration crackdown, is seeking a breakthrough with the threat of tariffs.
