He wanted to recover the money from a case at all costs, going from requests to threats, up to actual extortion. A 50-year-old from Valmontone ended up in handcuffs, arrested in flagrante delicto by the Carabinieri of the local station on heavy charges of extortion, threats and resisting a public official.
The demands and threats
The story began when the man, already known to the police, showed up at a commercial business in the city centre. The object of the dispute was the restitution of a sum of money that his family had previously paid as a deposit for the preparation of an inheritance procedure. Not satisfied with the first confrontation, the 50-year-old raised the level of the conflict: he contacted the owner of the agency by telephone, threatening her heavily and forcing her to accept the delivery of 150 euros.
The trap and the arrest
The victim, however, alerted the Carabinieri who intervened promptly by organizing an observation service. The soldiers surprised the man in the act of receiving the money, the banknotes of which had previously been photocopied to prove the extortion had taken place.
Resistance to the police
Seeing himself trapped, the 50-year-old attempted to react by resisting the military, fortunately without causing any injuries. At the end of the formalities, the man was transferred to the Velletri prison, available to the Judicial Authority.
